Annick Goutal
Since the birth of Parfums Annick Goutal in 1981, Annick Goutal, and more recently her daughter Camille, have created a unique range of fine fragrances rooted in the purest tradition of the perfume-makers of yesteryear. They are now regarded as one of France's most prestigious fine fragrance houses. Uniquely, these perfumes were created without regard for the latest trends or fashions - yet have become Cult fragrances to those in the know.
Originality - each fragrance is inspired by a moment in the life of their creator. Authenticity - natural and rare essences are used. Refinement - Each fragrance is characterised by their creator's feminity and sophistication. Quality - as Annick Goutal said 'Luxury is in the detail' Simplicity - the bottles are simply beautiful.
Annick Goutal - Her Story: Daughter of a Parisian confectionary maker, Annick Goutal was born into the business of creativity and inspiration! After a career as a prize winning pianist and model, a chance encounter with a perfume creator was to change her life forever. It was this significant meeting that fuelled her passion for perfumes. From this moment, she was to spend her life memorising ingredients and refining her talent as an extraordinary nose. Using a familiar language note, harmony, key she found herself reacquainted with her musical past. Not only are her fragrances inspired by real emotions a reminder of someone or something precious in Annick Goutal’s life - but they are also allusions to nature and her strong connection with it. Each fragrance composed note by note like a symphony to form a precious bouquet, bringing together only the noblest and rarest of natural essences - Eau d’Hadrien expresses the emotions evoked by the character of the emperor Hadrian; Eau de Camille is a tribute to her daughter Camille and her childhood memories on a terrace of ivy; Grand Amour tells of her serene passion for her husband; and Gardenia Passion describes a garden where gardenias are in full bloom.
To ensure the magic and exclusivity is preserved, Annick Goutal fragrances are only available in selective distribution. Specially appointed perfumeries, department stores, and a handful of Annick Goutal boutiques (including 6 in Paris), carry the fragrances, thus ensuring a privileged relationship with clientele.
In 1999, after a long battle with cancer, Annick Goutal passed away at the age of 53. She left behind a masterpiece of fragrances and compositions. Today, Annick Goutal is the embodiment of authenticity, refinement and quality. Her legend now lives on through her daughter, Camille, who continues to write the incredible story of one of the rarest and most precious fragrance houses ever!
Camille Goutal When one thinks of Camille Goutal, a picture of an elegant and beautiful young lady in a little black dress with lacy tights and ballerina flats comes to mind. She is the archetype of ‘La Francaise’. Speaking with a charming French accent, she is warm but never too familiar; with blue-grey eyes made riveting by dark brows and blond hair. She is the perfect ambassador for Annick Goutal - the perfume house her mother founded in 1980 in a little boutique on rue de Bellechase in Paris.
Camille also embodies what we love about perfume today. Not harsh scents sold to us via multimillion-dollar marketing campaigns, but rich, complex real-woman perfume. French perfume. We’re nostalgic for the romance of perfume’s past; for fragrances inspired by a moment and for an era when women took time to select fragrances that both suited and embodied them.
Continually inspired by her late Mother, as she inspired her mother in turn, Camille Goutal, together with Isabelle Doyen (Annick Goutal’s former assistant), now comprise the creative team of Parfums Annick Goutal.
It was Camille who created the recent ‘Les Nuits d’Hadrien’, a moody take on the classic Eau d’Hadrien created by her mother before her death in 1999 and that continues to be the brand’s best selling perfume worldwide.
Camille Goutal was born to Annick Goutal at Fontenay Sous Bois in 1975.
